Let's face it this is the time of year when even those of you who have been "good" all year and have taken care to eat healthy and get proper amounts of sleep and exercise, tend to throw that all away and just eat, drink and be merry. Of course, come the New Year, there are resolutions galore about losing those extra pounds we put on during the holidays. But, there are some fun ways you can burn off some of those calories as soon as you put them inside you and still have a great time enjoying the holiday. Chances are you'll feel more invigorated and less sluggish and a little more healthy overall.
Have A Day Of Ice Skating
There is nothing like getting out in the crisp, cold air with your children or friends and have a few rounds at the local ice skating rink. Even if you only manage to brave the cold for an hour or so you'll burn off some of those calories, shed a bit of that holiday stress and feel more energetic and fit for getting a bit of exercise.
Sledding And Tobogganing
Another great way of burning off those Christmas Calories is by sledding or tobogganing. Not only do you get an afternoon of thrills and spills but, you can also burn off a lot of calories sloughing up those hills to take another run. Just make sure you dress warm in water proof clothing to avoid chills and then have a great time. You'll be keeping your self fit and giving your children some wonderful memories.
Take A Stroll Around Town To See The Christmas Lights
For those of you who are not quite as active why not take a stroll around town and view the Christmas decorations and lights. When you drive around viewing the lights you really don't have time to enjoy all the fine details of those Christmas displays that you can observe while strolling through your neighborhood. Not only will you burn off a few of those calories, but, seeing the bright lights and stars and just listening to the quiet will make you feel rested and invigorate you for the next days round of activities.
Rock Around The Christmas Tree
Put on some spirited Christmas music and have an impromptu dance. There is nothing like a little foot tapping music to get you moving and even if you don't actual dance the night or day away you'll be picking up your feet and doing a little prancing of your own. Even a little exercise helps to restore your body's balance and aids digest while burning more calories than watching yet another rerun of "A Christmas Story."
One thing you want to remember though is to warm up before and cool down after any physical exercise. One great way to do that is to spend a few minutesrebounding before hitting that skating rink or climbing those big hills. Besides, a few minutes on that rebounder will help burn even more calories and help you to start your day feeling just a little more healthy.
